How it all Began...
As an education major, I knew my final semester of college would consist of student teaching young kiddos for several weeks. I also knew I could choose to do this in Fargo, Fergus Falls, or pretty much anywhere else I wanted to go.
I have always been interested in studying abroad, but never got around to actually doing it during my first couple of years in college. However, last fall I learned about the option of student teaching abroad instead of student teaching here, in the USA. My initial intrigue in this opportunity turned into a full-fledged commitment as I submitted my application and was approved to complete part of my student teaching in a different country. I say “part of my student teaching” because I am required to teach 17 weeks and can only be abroad for 90 days without a visa. As a result, I will be student teaching 10 weeks abroad and then finishing the last 7 weeks in Fargo, ND.

Application to student teach abroad |
When I began the process of applying to student teach abroad, I had to choose which country I wanted to go to. My options included: Italy, Peru, South Korea, Taiwan, South Africa, England (London), Switzerland, Tanzania, Germany, or Australia. While all of these countries were tempting (except Australia…SPIDERS!), I found myself being drawn to Switzerland. When I was in 5th grade, I had to do a research project on a country. Out of all of the countries I could have chosen from, I decided to do my project on Switzerland. Who would have thought 11 years later I would be traveling and living in this same country? As you can see from the conclusion to my 5th grade project, I have wanted to visit Switzerland for a very long time. :)
As I begin this amazing journey of fulfilling my dream of going to Switzerland, I decided to create a blog where family and friends could keep up with my experiences and random thoughts. While I probably won’t write something every day and the majority of my posts will reflect my time in the classroom with the children I will be teaching, I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures as you catch a glimpse into this small, but significant part of my life.
